Leslie Avyazian

Black and white photos of a woman with light skin and long curly dark hair seen in 3/4 profile, her face upturned, mouth open as if speaking, eyes off camera, hand upraised in gesture. She wears a dark top against a brick wall with a shaft of light.

PlayCo and Kate Loewald

Leslie is the writer of the award-winning play, Nine Armenians. She will be working with director Blanka Zizka on an upcoming production of a revised version of Nine Armenians. She worked on her solo show, Mention My Beauty, at NYTW’s Dartmouth College and Adelphi University Summer Residencies. And she has recently completed a run of that show at New York Theatre Workshop in the inaugural In The Bricks festival. She has performed her solo shows, High Dive, Mention My Beauty, and Porcupine Girl, in several theaters and unusual spaces, including the Director’s Suite at the Guggenheim. She is an Associate Professor of Playwriting in the graduate School of the Arts at Columbia University and from 2022-2025 she served as Interim Head of the Playwriting Concentration. Leslie particularly enjoys her time with her granddaughter, Viola, who is 7 years old and sometimes calls Leslie “Bob.”
