Elizabeth Kuti’s most recent playwriting includes Sea Longing (BBC Radio 3; BBC Audio Award Best Original Drama, 2019-20); Gret and Will (BBC Radio 4, 2023 and 2026); for theatre, The Sugar Wife (The Artistic Home, Chicago, April 2026 revival; Abbey Theatre, Dublin, 2024 revival; Rough Magic at the Project Arts Centre, Dublin and Soho Theatre, London, original production 2005-6; Susan Smith Blackburn Award, 2005-6); Treehouses (Peacock, Abbey Theatre, Dublin; winner of the Stewart Parker Radio Award and Runner Up for the Susan Smith Blackburn Award, 2001); Fishskin Trousers (Finborough and Park Theatres, London, 2014). She was Playwright-in-Residence at Hampton Court Palace in 2015-16 during which time she created close to 60 mini-dramas performed all over the palace.

As an actor, her roles included the Colleen Bawn in The Colleen Bawn (Abbey Theatre, Dublin and Lyttelton, National Theatre, London); Car Show and Stella in Streetcar (Corn Exchange); and Olivia in Twelfth Night (Lyric Theatre, Belfast).

Elizabeth lives in Wivenhoe, UK, with her husband and their two sons, and teaches playwriting and drama at the University of Essex.
